Storyboard

In user experience, a storyboard is a tool that visually predicts and explores a user's experience with a product. It depicts a product in terms of how people will use it, much like a movie. It can assist UX designers in understanding the flow of people's interactions with a product over time, providing the designers with a clear sense of what's truly important to users.

This technique is useful and effective in imagining, transmitting, exploring, and analyzing experiences in the design process. Here are some of the advantages:

  • Human-centered design approach: storyboards place people at the center of the design process, emphasizing the importance of their experiences, needs, and preferences, resulting in more intuitive and engaging products.
  • Forces thinking of user flow: designers can walk in their users' shoes and see products in a similar light. This helps designers understand current scenarios of interaction, as well as test hypotheses about possible scenarios.
  • Prioritizes what’s important: storyboards also show you where you don't need to spend money. You can save a lot of time and effort by using them.
